Next Parent Session is May 19th at 12pm via Zoom:

Co-Regulating instead of Controlling

If your child is doing Neurofeedback, they’re already doing important work. Their brain is learning new patterns.

But here’s an important part that most parents aren’t told:

If those new patterns are placed back into the same stressed environment, it can limit how well they stick.

It’s like taking a fish out of a dirty bowl, cleaning it . . . and then putting it right back into the same water.

Lasting change doesn’t just depend on what your child learns - it depends on the environment those changes return to.

This is where most parents get stuck

You’re doing everything you’ve been told will help your child.

And still . . .

You feel overwhelmed or reactive during your child’s big emotions

You shut down, check out or lose access to the tolls you know

You leave interactions feeling guilty, drained or stuck

You feel like progress happens . . . and then slips

Not because you’re doing something wrong. But because your nervous system is under constant stress.

Here’s the shift most people miss

Kids don’t learn regulation from what we say .

They learn it from what they feel in our presence.

Their nervous system is constantly responding to yours.

So even as their brain is changing, their body is still asking:

“Am I Ok, Am I Safe ?”

What does “safe” actually mean?

When we talk about safety, we’re not just talking about physical safety.

We’re talking about how safe your nervous system feels.

Because you can be in a loving home with loving parents . . . and still feel:

On Edge

Easily Triggered

Overwhelmed or Reactive

Shutdown or Disconnected

To your child’s nervous system, “safe” feels like:

Calm, steady energy

Predictable

Emotional presence

Feeling seen heard and understood

Not having to brace or walk on eggshells

This doesn’t mean getting it right 100% of the time or being perfectly calm all the time - that is unrealistic and not what your kids need.

It means your body isn’t constantly signaling stress or threat.

When you become regulated, everything changes.

When your nervous system feels safer and more grounded:

Your child settles faster

Emotional intensity decreases

Your relationship and trust strengthens

Power struggles soften

Your respond instead of interact

The progress from neurofeedback actually sticks

You become part of the change, not just hoping for it.

This isn’t about being a better parent

You don’t need more parenting strategies.

You need the capacity to access them in real time.

That’s what nervous system work gives you.

What is Nervous System and Somatic Coaching?

This is not talk therapy.

And it’s not about giving you more parenting strategies.

This work helps you:

Understand your own stress responses (fight, flight, freeze, shutdown)

Track and notice what happens in your body in real time

Shift out of reactivity and into more rounded response.

Build the capacity to stay present during hard moments

Attune to your child so you know how to interact with them and best help them.

So you can become the calm your child’s nervous system organizes around.

Why This Works So Well With Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is helping retrain your child’s brain.

This work supports the environment those changes return to.

Together, they:

Reinforce each other

Accelerate progress

Create more consistent, lasting regulation

But what if . . .

“I should be able to handle this on my own.”

If your nervous system is overwhelmed, this is’t about willpower, it’s about support.

“I don’t have time for something else.”

This work helps you in the moments you’re already in - not by adding more, but by changing how you experience them.

“Isn’t this what my child’s therapy is for?”

Your child’s work supports them. This supports the environment they are growing in.

“What if I’m the problem?”

You’re not the problem.

Your nervous system has been doing what it’s best to protect you.

And it can learn something new.
